Mini's

Oh my. It's been awhile. Sorry for the hiatus. But ya know, life just happens. So here goes the re-cap of the last few weeks.

************************************************
Dream job? On hold for now. Recession. Can you believe that? No funding for the program. So I will wait. I will try to be patient. But it just plain sucks.

************************************************
Recently visited Atlantic City, & Rochester for hockey tournaments (hmmm, mystery boy:)) Had a blast. And no matter what anyone tells you- New Jersey does not smell good. Unless you are close to the buffet.

I didn't gamble. I watched other people bet a lot of money, lose it, feel sad, and then try again. I got nervous just standing near all that money being swept up and put right into the Casino's pocket. But oh I do love the noise, the colors, the people.

************************************************
My car was broken into a few nights ago. Woke up and it had been ransacked. GPS was gone. It was the only thing of value in the car. Yes, it was locked. We've had a rash of car break in's recently. So, I called the police and made my report. Thought nothing would come of it. But at 1:30am there was a rather insistent knock on my door and a nice officer who was all apologies and blaring radio said, "We found your GPS."

A suspected gang member was pulled over in Baltimore City with it, and others in his car.

Are. You. Freaking. Kidding. Me. ?

Then I heard....blah blah blah....trial. You will have to be a complainant for the state. DA will be in touch. You can go into Baltimore right now and pick up your GPS.

Um, it's almost 3am now. No thanks. Keep it. Seriously. I'm good.

So we'll see what happens with that. But gang member? Nah, I don't wanna mess with any of that. I'll just stay in my little world. He can have the GPS. Clearly he needed it more than I did. Oh and the little vanilla tree air fresheners? Enjoy.

*********************************************
Oh, you want to know about the mystery boy? Sorry, that one I'm keeping to myself for a bit. Plus, I don't know that he'd appreciate being featured on the blog just yet (or ever because of his job) But I will say...he's pretty much the cat's pajamas ;)

*********************************************
So I was sick on and off for about two weeks with something I refer to as: The Sickness. Because I was sick and not feeling creative. But it plain sucked. It was every pill in CVS couldn't fix me. It was nausea and fever and weight loss and exhaustion and not quite the flu but more than a cold but just short of death. It was terrible. But (crossing fingers) it seems to have finally left my battered immune system alone for now.

*********************************************
And yesterday I got to work the Thomas the Tank Engine event at my Mom's work (The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad museum). A freakin' blue train and you woulda thought it was Elvis, or like, something really cool. But nope. Just the little blue bastard. You wouldn't believe how worked up people get over that damn train.

And I won't go into detail. But someone was very mean to my Momma, and I'm proud of how she handled herself. Because it was a bad situation and she was a good person through it. And to that person? You can stay gone. Don't ever talk to my Momma like that again. Ever.

(btw Mom, the best part of the whole thing is how you quietly said "You're fired". That was money)
******************************************
And now? Well now it's nearing 90 degrees. The sun is out and shining on all the trees and flowers. Blossoms are blossoming. Shade trees are shading. And me? I'm off for a long run. Because on a day like this. I just want to go. Somewhere. Anywhere.

"How can I write this?"

Sunshine, Houdini, and I went on a mission. A mission to Best Buy.

"I want to make this quick and dirty," Sunshine shouted, making her way to the laptop section of the store.
"I want one that comes in colors and has a number pad."
"Oooh this one is shiny."
"This one is sleek looking and has a design."
"How much is it? Too much."
"I like this one."
"I like that one."
"Look there's more!"

And so it went for 10 minutes until Sunshine quickly settled on the laptop of her dreams. Or as she put it, "I figure I'll destroy this thing within a year."

It took a while to find someone to help us. But once again Sunshine proved rather entertaining. After a nice guy in a blue shirt offered to get the key to unlock her new computer we stood together just waiting in the aisle. Geek Squad to the rescue.

*approaches Sunshine*
"Did Vido help you?"
"What?"
"Did a guy in a blue shirt come up and offer to help you?"
"Well this IS Best Buy, so yeah."
**glares at Sunshine and wanders off**

Sunshine paid, and Vido explained it would be an hour and a half until the computer was ready, so off we went to dinner and drinks.

Fast forward.

Picking up the computer. Sunshine has left the receipt in the car. No matter, they check her ID and give her the cool box and off we go to the exit door. And at the door? Three large men looking suspiciously at three girls carrying a computer out of the store.

*walking out of Best Buy*
*Alarm sounds*
*we stop, stare*

Sunshine says, "Uhh...I don't have my receipt." Never relinquishing her hold on the computer.
Cop says, "I'm the police."
Sunshine says, "You're not the police?"
Cop flashes gun, and says, "I AM the police."
Sunshine, Houdini and I just keep edging slowly out the door.
Cop mumbles something about something and we dissolve into giggles sounding every bit the 12 year old girls we still are somewhere inside.
