Just Beachy

Spent the weekend at the beach with Houdini (my best friend for the past 20 some years). We ate, drank, laughed, and just had a good time. No drama. No pressure. No nothing. And it was perfect. We couldn't have asked for better weather (well, for February at least!) It was mid 40's and sunny all weekend. I woke up early both days to just walk the beach with Ollie and take in the sunrise. And it really got me to thinking. I want to...no need to, live on the beach. It just makes me so happy to wake up and hear waves. I want to dig my toes into sand everyday. So now I just need to figure out how, and fast!

There's been a lot going on with me lately. Too much. And I've decided to cut out the excess and focus on the things that really matter. Like being a good person. Taking care of myself first. Laughing more. Letting go of things, and surrounding myself with positive influences.

This weekend was the perfect gateway to everything that is to come; all of the changes and amazing things I'm looking forward to in the very near future. I am going to be extremely busy for the next few weeks especially so posting may be light.

I will leave you with an excerpt from my favorite poem.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.
