Back in the land of the living

I don't remember much. Just this feeling. Like something was off. Like I wasn't quite centered. My memory is almost completely gone. And to lose 24 hours. Well, it's disturbing. Sometime around 4am on Sunday, I woke up and stumbled into the bathroom. From there what followed was hours of body wrenching pain. Also known as the flu.

Sunshine had it first. She lay crumpled on the floor unable to laugh. And when Sunshine doesn't laugh, you know something is terribly wrong.

So that's how I found myself, curled up on the floor, the couch, the bed changing positions over and over trying to find some relief. But always, my stomach would roll like ocean waves. I had to apologize to my date from Saturday night, because I fell asleep. Yup. And because when he brought me home, I was so miserable I could only show him to the door and curl up in a ball on the couch. He was quite understanding.

I'm still on the couch today. Covered in dogs. They think they're helping, licking my face and warning me of UPS men and passerby. I know it wasn't life threatening. But something about this flu got me to thinking.

I'll post those thoughts later. For now, hot tea and ER re-runs are the only thing on my agenda.
